  Short Bio:
Vassia graduated from Kings College, London in 2007 with a BSc in Medical Biochemistry and then decided to broaden her horizons with an MSc in International Health Management at Imperial College. She worked for a year in a health care market research company, doing statistical analysis for biological drugs, but her passion for science drove her to apply for an MSc in Molecular Medicine at UCL. During her Masters Vassia joined the Medical Genomics lab of Prof. Beck at the UCL Cancer Institute and worked on the comparative methylome analysis of benign and malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumours. This opportunity introduced her into the magical world of epigenetics and reinforced her decision to continue her studies in this field. She has joined the Kirmizis lab in January 2011 working on characterising novel regulators of arginine methylation, using yeast as a model system. Vassia believes that “Life is great in Cyprus, science is fun and yeast makes it even more fun!”
